wonderful time in NYC

1880s Harlem Mansion

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Five ladies stayed in the house to celebrate my recent birthday. It is everything it says on the web site and more. The location is excellent for getting downtown, Central Park, in fact anywhere as it is located only five minutes walk from a sub way. Locally the area is really buzzing, with the famous Sylvia's and Red Rooster restaurants just nearby. With a large Wholefoods store just about to open it will just complete the area for convenience. However the house itself is in a really nice street with a park at the end. Joyce provides for everything in the house and you can't help but enjoy yourself. It's a perfect place to come back to at the end of a long days sight seeing or shopping. I will be back again for sure.

Great for large groups!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I spent a 4-day weekend at this property with 9 other ladies. It was perfect and met the description on VRBO. We each doubled up and shared rooms and had our own bathroom! I can't begin to tell you how great that was.... The property manager's assistant, Stephanie, greeted us upon arrival. She was so friendly and helpful; very knowledgeable about the property and neighborhood. The house was clean and well maintained. The first night we were all pretty tired from travelling so we bbq'd steaks on the gas grill in the courtyard. There's a local market around the corner, very convenient, with fresh flowers and vegetables. There's a convenient liquor store as well for what ales ya... What we couldn't find locally we ordered through Instacart and they delivered. There's very easy access to the subway or bus to get into the city. Locally we enjoyed dinner and live music at Red Rooster and the breakfast brunch at Sylvia's. Just a beautiful trip and a great place to stay! We'd do it again and hope to soon. Thanks!

My daughter and I stayed here this past week. It was actually the second time we've rented this property. I would highly recommend this property! The first time we stayed here we had a large group - 10 people in all, and it accommodated us all quite easily. This last visit was just my daughter and I. Joyce was kind enough to allow just the two of us to stay, although the house is really designed for larger groups. We love the neighborhood, completely safe and friendly. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. It's a short, easy walk to the subway and then 15 minutes to Times Square. There are a number of restaurants locally that are an easy walk and very good! If you have a larger number of people, we highly recommend this property!

Great times

Okay, this was the BEST place to stay in NYC!! We had 9 of us in the family and wanted an elegant place to stay where we all could just hang out but be treated special. This place ticked every box. It was a truly authentic brownstone (read "Sex in the City" meets "Sesame Street") and was beautifully restored. The owner provided extra special attention and responded to all emails and questions promptly. The place was well appointed and there was even left over laundry detergent, coffee, and other goodies. There even was an elevator and spa bathroom! It truly felt like you were in a beautiful home. The place is about 1.5 blocks from the subway and we felt totally safe walking around at all hours. We'll totally stay here again. Harlem Rocks and this place was FABULOUS!!!

Happy Holiday get togethers

Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at the Harlem Getaway! We were able to enjoy tasty meals with all 17 of us sitting around the ample dining room table. Having the logs waiting by the fireplaces made it easy to create the perfect cozy atmosphere. The piano in the living room served as the basis for our sing-alongs (accompanied by guitars and mandolin). All first floor living space and the lower level gaming and TV rooms ensured that everyone (from 15 months to 77 years old) could spread out and relax. The spacious bedrooms allowed people to have privacy and the peace and quiet needed to feel like they had a vacation.

Birthday Celebrations

We took our whole family (12) here to celebrate my 50th birthday. What an awesome time we had! Joyce was very accomodating and we had plenty of room to spread out or gather toghether. There was privacy when you wanted it, a t.v. room for watching movies, even a pool table. Everyone had a great time seeing New York at christmas time and staying in this huge house. The grandkids had plenty of space to roam and the area was beautiful in the snow. The subway was a short walk, and even with kids was not a problem. We always felt safe and people were very friendly. We loved disovering the "Harlem Shake" on our last day there. We were so glad we stayed here and made many family memories in New York and at the house.

Girls Getaway

We were six women renting the home and could not have been more pleased. The house is exactly as pictured on VRBO with lots of extras not pictured. Kitchen was well stocked with spices, coffees, teas, and other staples. We relaxed in the large, comfortable living room enjoying a view of the residential street. Very comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. Every amenity was available except for hair dryers (bring your own). We were only a short couple of blocks from the subway entrance and traveled easily throughout city without any problems. In-home elevator was a nice perk after a long day of walking in the city. I recommend doing a walking tour of the neighborhood with Joyce at the beginning of your trip. She not only gave us the neighborhood history but also pointed out several good restaurants, nearby grocery and retail shops. We would gladly stay here again and hope to do so. One of the best VRBO homes any of us has ever stayed in.

sibling reunions

This place was wonderful for our sibling reunion. The photos in the website does not do justice to the high quality and charm of the place. There was plenty of room for everyone. The biggest surprise was the comfort of my bed. After running all over NY for the day I was shocked with pleasure as I eased into the bed and could only say WOW!!! I wish I could go back and stay there next week.
